Oslo, October 29, 2009 -- A number of Kashmiris and their Norwegian Pakistani sympathisers gathered outside Norwegian Parliament on Tuesday in Oslo to observe the black day. The demonstration was organised by Kashmir Kashmir European Alliance to support the people in Indian held Kashmir and oppose the atrocities in the disputed territory.
It is important to mention that India entered its forces in Kashmir on 27th of October1947, soon after the partition of sub-continent. The Kashmiris in two parts of the territory and other parts of the world observe the day as black day every year.
Chief Coordinator of Kashmir European Alliance Choudry Mukhtar Ahmed briefed the gathering about the atrocities and misery in Kashmir. He told about the UN resolutions those are on the table for many decades. He further said that for the last sixty years the people of Jammu & and Kashmir have been struggling for the achievement of their inalienable right of self-determination , which has been assured to them by both Pakistan and India approved by United Nations under various resolutions of Security Council. Instead of fulfilling its international obligations initiated at the behest of then Prime Minister of India Mr Nehru in 1948, and the assurances given to the people of Jammu & Kashmir, the Indian government has used its brutal force to suppress the voice of people. The whole terrain of Kashmir has been turned into killing field and men, women and children have been killed with impunity. Arbitrary arrests, illegal detections, custodial killings and so on. Looting and extortions are rampant throughout the length and breadth of valley.
Peaceful protest demonstration was lead by President of Kashmir European Alliance Sardar Pervez Mehmood. He addressed the gathering and urged Norwegian Parliament to convey voice of protest to UN Security Council and may remind United Nations to fulfil its promises of plebiscite in Jammu & Kashmir.
He said that Simla agreement cannot replace United Nations resolutions as it was signed after 1971 war between India and Pakistan, when India was holding Pakistani soldiers as war prisoners and blackmailing Pakistan to sign the agreement.
The Young Kashmiri figure said that there are fifteen million people living in Jammu & Kashmir, this means that Population of Jammu an Kashmir is almost three times than that of Norway. It’s not fair to replace UN resolutions on Kashmir those may give 15 million people in Kashmir the right of vote.
