Kashmir Solidarity week observed in Norway, former PM of AJK, Barrister Sultan was the chief of the concluding ceremony

 

(Oslo, Feb 08, 2010 – Kashmir solidarity Week was closed in Oslo, the capital of Norway on Sunday. The concluding ceremony was arranged by newly emerging organisation Kashmir European Alliance based in Oslo. The function was attended by a number of the Norwegian Kashmiris and Pakistanis from different walks of life and Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Administered Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry was chief guest of gathering

 

The solidarity day is being observed by Pakistan to express support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on 5th Febuary for several years and Norway based Pakistanis and Kashiris observed the whole first week of Febuary as the solidarity week. Kashmiris out of Indian held valley also observed the day to pledge their solidarity to the innocent people of Kashmir.


In his speech, Sultan Mahmood highlighted the issue of Kashmir and said, we would continue our struggle for freedom of Kashmir from the Indian occupation. About Norway, he said, Oslo has influence in the Europe and we hope the country cloud play a role to help in peaceful solution of the Kashmir dispute.

 

The Deputy Speaker of Norwegian Parliament, Akhtar Chaudhry, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Norway, Mr.Rabnawaz Khan, Former members of Norwegian parliament, Shahbaz Tariq and Ch.Khalid Mahmood , Amir Khan of Kashmir Alliance and Maulana Mehbood ur Rehman of Islamic Cultural Center Oslo were also speakers of the occasion. Chairman of Alliance, Sardar Shabir Ahmad, President of the Alliance, Engineer Pervez Mahmood and Vice President, Ch.Yousaf were also seen on the stage while Chief Coordinator, Ch.Mokhtar Ahmad was one of the main organisers of the programme.

 

In his address to the gathering, Ambassador Mr.Rabnawaz Khan paid tribute to the valiant people of Kashmir, who have made many sacrifices in their struggle to attain their inalienable right of self-determination. He stated that Pakistan is committed to make efforts for a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute. He said, Kashmir is cure issue of Pakistan and India dialogue and we hope the dialogue would soon be restarted.


The Deputy Speaker Akhtar Ch said, there is need for more awareness on the issue of Kashmir in the Norwegian parliament. The Kashmir group is being reconstituted in the parliament and it would play active role to make the awareness.

 

Maulana Mahboob Ur Rehman went on to say that the support of Pakistan can help the Kashmiri people attain their right to self-determination.

 

In their speeches, the speakers said, the Kashmir issue must be resolved in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people. A resolution demanding the peaceful solution of Kashmir issue and condemnation of the sufferings of the Kashmiri people was also passed by gathering.


another resolution for condemnation of appearance of the controversial caricatures of Prophet of Islam (PBUH) was also passed in the gathering. The suggestion was raised by Pakistani Student in Norway, Zubair Bashir and all of the participants supported the proposal. The function was attended by a cross section of Norwegian Pakistani as well as Kashmiris based in Norway. Some of them were also prominent representatives and members of the community in Oslo.
